GREAT BRITAIN WIN FIRST OLYMPIC POOL MATCH AGAINST EGYPT.

Great Britain won their first match in Athens yesterday evening with a convincing 3-1 win.

Having begun the match with great gusto, GB ended the first half of the match with a one-nil lead after a goal in the eighteenth minute from Barry Middleton. However, two minutes into the second half, Egypt's Sameh Mohamed equalised and appeared to be the stronger side.

Nevertheless, a storming goal by Guy Fordham in the 53rd minute restored GB's lead, and a converted penalty corner from Ben Hawes six minutes later gave GB their much needed win.
